I am of the belief that quality dental healthcare should be obtainable to all, regardless of economic background. Access to quality dental care should be seen as a human right and not predicated upon social or economic status. Everyone has the right to wellness yet disparities in access to healthcare and dental healthcare in particular exist. In an effort to rid the world of this inequity, I believe that we all have a responsibility to give back. I believe that we all have a responsibility to lift and serve those who are in need; those who cannot afford access to fundamental services that would lead to a better quality of life. It is this belief that drives my desire to become a dentist. It is my long-term goal, after becoming a dentist, to work for a dental practice that is devoted to serving the underserved; those with limited access to dental healthcare in an urban setting. During my time at Food Corp, I have had a lot of time to reflect on my passions and how best to achieve my long-term goals. These several months after graduating from college has been a time of character building. It has enabled me to mentally refresh and refocus. It has made me even more passionate about achieving my goal of becoming a dentist and serving those who do not have access to basic dental care. The glide year has refueled both my soul and my drive to strengthen myself academically so that I may be fully equipped to provide the best care that everyone in need
