Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve sought out a career that would be enjoyable, and one that I’d be proud of. The career that always came to mind was being a teacher for younger children. All through high school I was set on being a teacher when I graduated. I was hesitant and unaware if I was making the right choice, but in the end, I still believed that this was the right career for me. After my high school graduation, I transferred to Elgin Community College. Here I continued to take Early Childhood classes and graduated with my Associates of Arts. Still two years later, being a teacher was still at the top of my list.
My job at Immanuel Lutheran Extended Care was another opportunity that helped solidify my desire to work with children. I have worked here for four years and I still do today. Working with children ages 2 ½ to 13 has taught me patience, compassion, and that I like working with younger children

The two professionals I asked for a recommendation from are; Mrs. Domeier, the Principal of Immanuel and Julia Heinz, the Director of Preschool at Immanuel. When I was at my community college Mrs. Heinz was gracious enough to allow me to observe in her classroom. She helped me discover the type of educator I want to be in the future. She is extremely patient and sets boundaries with her students. My second recommendation came from the principal of the school where I work. I asked her wanted to write a recommendation for me because I knew she wouldn’t be willing to write one for me unless she felt that I was worthy of being a teacher. In addition to these two ladies, I was able to work with many other teachers who have been extremely motivating and encouraging throughout my journey, especially when I needed to bring up my ACT score for this admission
