In Japan, my parents were involved in the church. As they wanted to be missionaries, my family was called to go to China. As a missionary and a professor at Yanbian University of Science and Technology, my parents had many things to do. Despite their busy schedule, they constantly invited students to our house and had quality time. As a young child, I saw my parents serve their students with love and care. This action and a heart for serving people also gradually began to grow in me. Looking at students change through my parent’s act of kindness and love, I started to admire my parents and got amazed how God uses people’s talent to serve God’s people. I was introduced to many different culture and people. Since, my family moved around, I was good at adjusting and suiting myself to the new culture. I also like interacting with different people. Before applying to Hospitality and Tourism Management at Ryerson University, I was having a hard time deciding what to study for the next four years. But growing up in this environment, I realized that I liked interacting with people and serving them. I was also good at communicating and empathizing with people that have different mindsets and values. I also enjoyed exploring new places and adjusted perfectly to the new culture whenever my family move to a new destination. With my sensitivity to different cultures and people and my love for traveling, I wanted to use these experiences to my advantage and find a major that will allow me to unfold my talents. That is when I decided to apply for this program. This field is a fast growing major and people who graduated have the opportunity of getting a variety of jobs. Through this program, I will have access to a variety of jobs and through that I will be able to find what I really want to become. My ultimate desire in life is to study what I enjoy, to live and pursue a happy life by doing things I like to do. Moreover, using the money I gained and the talent I have to serve people who need help and for God’s glory. Right now, I only have a strong motivation to serve people, but I need to be more prepared, trained, educated, and exposed to various perspectives in order to be more effective in helping people lead them toward
