I have had many experiences, inside and outside of the classroom, that have influenced me to pursue a degree and career in the field of engineering. I have set academic goals for myself to take the most advanced classes that will allow me to achieve my professional goal of becoming a successful engineer.

Within the classroom, I have been inspired through my studies. I challenge myself by enrolling in the highest levels of math and physics courses. These classes strengthen my background knowledge in engineering. These classes gave me the skills to diligently create projects with a very small margin of error and understand intricate topics. I have also been influenced by my involvement in my electromagnetism class. In this course, students participate in the Harriton Engineering Alternative Technology (HEAT) Lab. This is a grant-funded engineering project at my high school in which students of electromagnetism …show more content…

Science Olympiad is an extracurricular event where members of my school compete nationwide to complete various engineering projects that involve electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science. The team and I are all very dedicated to be the best which makes us very competitive. We placed second in the nation last year. One person who has greatly motivated me is my mother. Growing up I would receive these construction kits from her that were like mini engineering projects. When my mother would give me the kits, I was so eager to open up the package and start assembling what was inside. My strong interest in these projects led my mother to believe that I would most likely end up in a career that involved engineering. She saw the joy that these kits brought me, so she embraced and supported it and continued to buy them for me. She did her best to encourage me to pursue my passions, and I am so grateful that she
