WHY DID I TAKE THIS INTERNSHIP? When I had the choice to do an internship or complete a class for my graduation credits, I knew at once that I wanted to do an internship. I wanted to have professional experience in the business world and to build a network of professional contacts that would help develop my professional career. I thought that an internship would allow me to learn work habits that would help me excel and develop the skills that would progress my profession. I even thought that depending on the internship that I applied for, I could get my foot in the door with certain organizations so that I could possibly go from an internship to a full time job. I wanted to learn new skills that would help me develop my career and knowledge of the business world. I think it’s important to learn something from every experience, and I knew that with this internship I would want to hone my skills and learn new abilities that I would take with me in my professional journey. I also wanted to get constructive feedback about what I needed to do to excel in any position that was presented to me. I think that it is important to take suggestions and recommendation to learn as much as possible from this internship so that I don’t only become a better employee, but also a better individual. Even if I did well in my internship, I wanted my employer to give me constant critiques on my performance so that I could improve my performance throughout my career.
Finally, I want to establish myself in the business world. I would like to learn about how to make myself a presence when it comes to communicating with new contacts and start to develop a career network so that finding rewarding jobs will not be as difficult for myself. I applied and gave the owner, Shan White, a phone call and she called me the next day saying that she wanted to set up an interview and that my resume was very impressive. One quick interview later and I had was a part of the WPPC team.
Shan is a certified life coach from the official Tony Robbins School: Robbins- Madanes Coaching Training and is an expert in providing guidance, support, and direction to divorced women either in person or over the phone or Skype. She coaches these women by designing customized tools, techniques, and strategies to help ease the difficult challenge of change and uncertainty. Shan White received her Bachelor’s degree in Theology at a masters level with a focus in Counseling and Education from Christian Life School of Theology with a 4.0
