Personal Statement # 2 A personal quality that is important to me is being my own person in this life. In my opinion, being yourself with your peers, friends, and family is the best way so they can know you better. The real me is someone who wants to follow her dreams and becoming someone in life. I see many people who try so hard to be someone they are not. It’s incredible when I see a person trying their hardest so they could just be accepted into their group of friends. I personally don’t believe that by becoming a different person or changing who you are will make you a better person. I was bullied and teased of how not only of my bad acne also I had an image of being a “good girl”. I tried many things so I couldn’t be teased and I almost fell into depression. I felt there was nothing for me to do to find an answer to my problem. I felt really bad and just wanted to go somewhere far away and start all over again. I also begged my parents to send me to another school. My parents at first thought of it and later talked to me about overcoming this situation. After talking to them, I realize that this is all temporary and things will get better. With time I also realized that I don’t need to change for anyone so I can feel accepted. And I want people to remember me as who I was and set that example to my friends and peers who are going through the same phase where I’ve been through. I consider myself to be a thoughtful person and try to help my friends and peers. With this experience, I want to carry this along to college and for the rest of my future so I can help other young people that went through similar situations as I did. By also getting involved in many school activities, this helps me improving my leadership skills and makes me want to lead with example. As you can tell from my letter i'm gonna be attending a higher level of education next fall. Currently im working towards my goal for graduation and hope to have those same goals when i begin at the university. The major that i wish to obtain is sociology meaning going into the social worker department . I find this department to be one of the best because they are able to help kids who have no other way out and can be given a home. I never had to go thru this but my life as a child wasn't all that great and i know that by obtaining this job i can better the lives of others. As a child growing up i never knew what it was to have a normal childhood because i was always helping my mom at her job and going to school. By the age of nine i was already counting and handling money for my mom as well as selling and buying items for her . People would just look at me because they didn't believe they were gonna do business with me but in the end they were left impressed.This is the same goal i have for my statement today except that i'm already a young adult and you're one of the top schools in america.
