If you’re reading this then you are probably in need of some motivation to push through this semester, maybe you are doubting yourself, or perhaps you need a reminder of why you decided to work hard and put in your best effort in the first place. I’m writing this letter to help you regain the motivation that you once had, and to convince you to work to the fullest potential on whatever task you are currently doing. I am now at the beginning of the second semester of my first year in the Psychological and Health Sciences program. I’m in this program because after graduating, I hope to have a career in the medical field. The first short-term goal that I hope to achieve by the end of this semester is a sessional GPA of 3.82 or higher. The reason I chose this specific academic goal is that I believe that while working to achieve this GPA, I will be improving many of my study and work habits in the process. So to me, this goal is not only about the numerical GPA, but it is also about refining my study habits and strategies in order to become an efficient learner, which will benefit me in all areas of my life. My second goal for this semester is to gain a position, whether it is paid or volunteer, in a hospital or medical institution. This goal is very important to me because, at this point in my educational career, I’d like to be exploring different work fields in order to figure out which one I’m most interested in. By experiencing the medical field first-hand, it will give me an idea of whether or not it is the right option for me, and if needed, it will allow me to make adjustments and alternative plans early …show more content…

One of the things that I think will help me achieve my goals is the fact that I’m naturally very ambitious and determined. I believe that this characteristic will benefit me by allowing me to recover from a failure, preventing me from giving up on my goals. For instance, if I receive a bad grade, or if don’t get accepted into a job position that I applied for, my determined nature would convince me to work harder next time, rather than giving up. Another advantageous characteristic I possess is that I’m a hard-worker. Being a hard-worker causes me to always try to go above and beyond in order to achieve what I want. This characteristic will definitely help me attain the grades that I want, and it will also help me stand out among other candidates when it comes to applying to job and volunteer
