1. Three changes that I think that would contribute most to improving the health of people in the less developed nations is changing “income inequality,” having an equal health care among everyone, and changing the education system (Weitz 2017:52). By changing income inequality to be more equal among everyone, this should put people in the same socioeconomic status in which everyone can afford the same things like food, housing, health care, and education. Having income equality would contribute to improving the health of people in the less developed nations because it would provide everyone with the same resources, which can benefit more people’s health overall and lower the rates of malnutrition. Lowering malnutrition will also contribute

I am a firm believer, that god will not give me or anyone anything we cannot handle. Life is hard sometimes, nothing is easy and perfect but when life gets hard I get harder. Every human being on earth has the potential to grow and flourish into the person they were meant to be. It is my job as a health educator to help inform people about health and wellness. I believe health is an ongoing process, it is a journey from the time one is born until he or she is deceased.
Health is a word that resonates with me, because it can mean so much more than its simple dictionary definition. Health is more than just being free of illness, but involves an individual, his/her community and how various factors influence, contribute or take away from that individuals’ health and well-being. I hope to one day pursue my goal of studying medicine, and I believe that the curriculum of the Public Health major will equip me with the skills and knowledge to be the best health professional I can be. To be aware of the environmental and social situations of a patient will allow me to pursue what I want with my career, not just curing disease or illness, but to do my best to better their quality of life. Once I heard about the School
In Canada, earlier approach to health was focused on medicine being able to solve health problems (Reutter, L. & Kushner, K.E., 2014, p.3). Today, Reutter, L. & Kushner, K.E. discussed that health is perceived through a combination of approaches: medical, behavioural, and socioenvironmental (p.3). The medical approach refers to early view of health, in which health improvement and maintenance is dependent on the availability of health services (p.3). The behavioral approach to health came into view in1974, in which the Lalonde Report emphasized on the impact of lifestyle to one’s health (p.3). In the 1980s, the socioenvironmental approach to health came into perspective after research were conducted showing results that healthy behavior were

I strongly believe I am an excellent candidate for your program because I am focused, hard-working and passionate about offering help to communities. I also have good insight into the economic and infrastructural processes required to accomplish sustainable change in preventive medicine and generally in the healthcare sector of my country. Born and raised in rural southern Nigeria, I have traveled through various regions and even more frequently in the last three years, and am aware of the core health and economic challenges facing my country. A post-graduate training in public health will enable me to demonstrate wide competency in the field of public health, allow me to be effective as a credible voice for positive change to existing health programs and also provide a fine theoretical background to maximize the practical basis upon which I have practiced as a full time healthcare professional for the past two years and volunteered at various medical missions since my undergraduate years. This program will also allow me to relate to professionals who share my goals at both colleague and Faculty
Within Public Health, I have always been passionate about how we can enact change on a larger scale and strive to further my education to understand these health disparities and be able to implement equity-based regulations and public health policies to provide care to the most susceptible populations. I immigrated from Pakistan to Oregon with my family when I was 15. Before moving, Public Health was the polio prevention medicine every two months from the public health officials that would be at our door. I was not familiar with the US healthcare system, until a healthcare worker at the local county signed my siblings and me up for the Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in Oregon. My parents on the other hand, received insurance through
I have chosen public health as my major because it is a dynamic field. I have a passion for making a difference in people’s lives and helping others achieve their goals. It is with great passion that I am dedicated and willing to contribute my service or skills to help someone in need. My philosophy of health education is very simple, to prevent, improve and educate the lives of individuals, families, communities, populations, and societies. Besides, there is no safer way to touch people’s lives than through public health.
Health and social care is something that I have always been passionate about. Because I have studied health and social care for the last four years I have regularly met a lot of the most vulnerable members of society through past work experiences. Through past placements I have worked with children who have special needs. This helped me develop ways of communicating with the children this could be through sign language. Because my Aunt is deaf I have taught myself basic sign language in order to communicate with her effectively.
