Entry 1: Basic assumptions, prior knowledge, and prior experience My future profession life will be in a human resource role. I believe having a strong knowledge base regarding change is a vital area for human resources and all areas of business. I have over 15 years of experience working with a variety of organizations. In the majority of my roles, I worked for the executive team. During those years, I have seen many unsuccessful change implementations. The changes were unsuccessful due to the negative effects on employees’ moral, thus impacting the financial bottom line. I believe I can overcome this by explaining and showing those that are skeptical of mutual engagement the amount of valuable information that can be obtained. Entry 4: Conflict Resolution In order to have conflict resolution there needs to be collaboration. “Collaboration a process of willing cooperation among individuals and groups with a common goal” (Spector, 2010, p. 91). Each conflict requires careful consideration on how to approach coming to a resolution. I believe the way to tell an approach to a conflict is clearly effective is when both parties are working together to solve the conflict. Application: (How/when might you apply the concept?) The application for conflict resolution can be used in business and in your personal life. This includes better communication, working as a team, openness, better problem solving, and growth. No one likes conflict, therefore the best part about coming to a resolution to a conflicts is it is better for your health. Challenges: (What will be the greatest challenges to using the concept, and how will you overcome them?) The biggest challenge is having someone listen to another view, and agreeing to meet on common ground. Finding a place of agreement when the conflict is heated and one person may not value the relationship. If the relationship is not valued, having someone give to get can be extremely hard. To over the come this challenge, I would have to convince them there is value to the relationship and resolution. In addition, help create a culture at work where work relationships are of value.
