Since technology has been introduced, it has increased the amount of distractions in teens as well as adults. As the amount of distractions increase, the human reaction time decreases. Technology is not a lousy invention, it is just not what life should revolve around. There are far greater commodities in life than just staring at a computer screen. While some people may argue technology is the best invention of the century, its function in everyday life is affecting people by making them ignore the one’s that they love. The impact of using technology while driving is so dangerous that it has led to death, distraction, and an increase in bullying.
It has become the public “norm” to text and drive. This is probably the most important issue in America with technology. Throughout the day, approximately 660,000 drivers attempt to use their phones while behind the wheel of an automobile. Teenage drivers are the most likely to become distracted while driving. Teen drivers are four times more likely than adults to get into car crashes or near-crashes when talking or texting on a cell phone. (Cell Phone Use While Driving Statistics). While teens become distracted by the slightest ‘ding’ of their phone, they are not the only age group that it is occurring in. Adults are getting more and more adapted to this technology that they, unlike teens nowadays, did not grow up with.
