Just over 1 million animals are tested each year in laboratories. Religious traditions allow humans to overrule animals. For example the Bible states in Genesis 1:26 “ And God said….Let them [human beings] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of air, and over the cattle, and over all the Earth, and over every creeping thing creepeth upon the Earth.” But the bad thing about this is that 95% of animals that are tested are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. Animals are used for product and cosmetic testing and science education, this includes dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, pigs, sheep, monkeys, chimpanzees, and more. People in favor of animal testing argue that it has contributed to many life saving cures and treatments, while those who are against animal testing believe that alternative methods are a better use of government research dollars. …show more content…
