Animals should not be used to test our products because they are living creatures and have feelings too. Our products that we love so much, are the same things that are killing the animals. Humans are not a superior species on this planet; we share it. Do we really need a luxury item that much that we need to use an innocent animal?
Animals are our pets, we treat them like family. Many animals from rats to birds to farm animals are used for testing. Would you want your dog to go blind from chemicals or even worse? More than 61,000 dogs are tormented in laboratories each year in the US alone (Veith,2016). Companies are purchasing homeless dogs and cats from local shelters for use in invasive, painful, and often deadly experiments. You wouldn't poison your baby, so why your pet? What happened to “Man’s best friend”?
These experiments are killing our beloved animals. We share this planet with many creatures. If they die, we die. Over 115 million animals are killed in lab experiments each year (Veith,2016). These experiments on our animals are inhumane. Some effects include burning of the skin, blinding, losing body functions, causing tumors and

Many people that approve of animal testing reply with “who else would we test on”? There are many alternatives to testing on animals. Scientists are able to perform sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues. This is called the vitro method. Another method used is the Silvio model, which is an advanced computer modelling technique that builds a replica of how each product would react on humans. Human volunteers are also a possibility. PETA is an organization working towards keeping animals safe. PETA funds many non-animal methods to use as an alternative (Veith, 2016). Recently they gave $150,000 to CeeTox, which is an organization that specializes in testing the safety of chemicals and drugs, to validate a non-animal skin allergy test for cosmetics (Veith,
