Animal Experimentation Over the years millions of animals have been poked prodded and killed for petty reasons. There are some people who do not respect or even acknowledge basic animal rights. Rabbits, rats, mice, and many more innocent animals are toyed with by scientist playing God and I believe that there's no justification for these heinous acts. Animals should not be sacrificed for unnecessary human desires. The earliest known records of animal experimentations have been dated back to the UK during the “17th Century with Harvey’s experiments on numerous animal species aiming to demonstrate blood circulation” (understanding animal research). Their research turned into experiments …show more content…

For example rabbit’s eyes are used to test eye irritation. They pour the chemicals into their eyes which can cause their eyes to “show signs of redness, bleeding, ulcers, blindness, and/or other signs of damage” (humane society). Another evil experiment they do is test rats for acute oral toxicity by forcing chemicals into them through a feeding tube. This experiment can cause rats to experience “diarrhea, convulsions, bleeding from the mouth, seizures, paralysis, and/or death” (humane society). In rare occasions pain relief is provided, but in the end all test subjects have the same result, death. These cruel actions are considered legal in laboratories, but if they were to be done outside of those doors it would be deemed a crime. Whether it be for makeup or shampoo animal testing is inhumane and morally wrong. If this issue is not addressed now, these awful experiments will only keep increasing and will eventually lead to a bigger problem whose magnitude cannot be fathomed. While some may argue that their sacrifice is what leads to our survival I have a tough time finding that true when scientist are using them as lab rats for trivial cosmetic reasons. But based on my research I believe more than ever that no living creature should have to suffer through such awful experiences only to have it all end in a painful
