“My life has been shaped by the decision two people made over 24 years ago. They decided to adopt a child. They got me, and I got a chance at the kind of life all children deserve.” This quote by Karen Fowler is the perfect example of how the concept of adoption should be, where a child who was missing his birth parents for some reason or another is taken in by a loving family to nurture and provide for. Adoption provides children a chance to a normal life; a home, a chance at a better education, social security etc. Furthermore, the bond between a child and his parents is essential in the makeup of the child’s personality and subconscious later on in his life. The concept of a loving family, traditionally consists of a mother and a father, male and female role models, something all children need. Which is why adoption by same sex couples is frowned upon by some people and for good reason, since it disrupts the natural order of families. Gay couples are adopting in some places, that is a fact, but whether or not they should be is a different matter; the evidence against them though, is overwhelming. They will proceed to provide their own analysis to the issues mentioned above, analysis to either refute the evidence or support their own stance and they might on some occasions be correct. They may also cry prejudice and harassment to their rights as citizens in a democratic society and they have every right to do so.
