How would you feel if you have to ask 380 million people in the our country for the right to marry your spouse? That is what gay couples are desperately trying to do in such a modern and freedom country as the United States. In today’s society, being a gay make them become a lower form of life as human being because they are different. Not only the government, but also so many people are not accepting for giving them the same right as everyone else. In the land of free, everyone should be able to freely choose the person they want to marry with or the life they want to be, as long as it does not hurt anyone in the process. Firstly, gay marriage has consistently been shown to provide an economic boost to those states and countries that have legalized same sex marriage. Hundreds of thousands of excited couples would start planning weddings if they are allowed. The marriage and wedding industry will definitely received a significant profit . Hundreds of thousands of excited couples would start planning weddings and the average wedding costs around $28,000 (The Knot). There are spending on flowers, cakes, bands, meals, photographers, hotels, tourism in general, suits and gowns, and a whole list of other roles that need to fulfilled in order for a wedding. Then, by a simple math, we multiplied by the 570,000 same sex couples in America (Gay Demographics) equals an 11.4 billion will profit for the wedding industry. It could generate millions dollar in sales tax revenue for state and governments. It would help reduce our country’s financial burden by creating many jobs and those money could be came toward to working class in America. “Gary Gates, a demographer at the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law who researches sexual orientation law and public policy, says the state itself would see a "noticeable economic benefit" from legalized same-sex marriage” (Welch).
