Reform immigration to allow a path for illegal immigrants to become citizens of the United States of America. To start with illegal immigrants already pay taxes. As an example in the article “Pro & Con” it states, “immigrants who are only eligible for legal status, but not citizenship, would contribute about… $109 billion in taxes over a ten-year period.” This shows us the immigrants already pay taxes and even if it’s just a small amount it’s still contributing to our economy so they have a right to stay. …show more content…

According to the article “The U.S.Immigration Debate”, “Immigrants comprise about 14 percent of the U.S. population: more than forty-three million out of a total of about 323 million people”. Part of that population are parents that are here illegally that have kids that were born here, those people should have a path to citizenship so they can be with their kids, it’s not right that families have to be spilt just because some of them aren’t a citizen yet.
Furthermore, immigrants sometimes make bad choices out of fear of being deported. For instance, in the article “Immigration” from Just Facts, it states, “illegal immigrant crime victims may not report crimes committed against them due to fear of deportation”. This gives us just one perspective of how many people are scared to do things just because they’re afraid of being caught that in a situation like this we need to know who hurt them so we can catch the person. Instead, if they were rewarded with a path to citizenship they would do the right
