Legalization of Marijuana, has been a crucial debate not only in Politics but as well in the Presidential Elections. Many current and former leaders feel that if Marijuana becomes legalized the way prescription pill's and other types of over the counter medication can be used and accessed easily Marijuana may become a gateway drug for other drugs and much harder drugs (i.e Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Ecstasy etc,) to be allowed into our society and the effect's it may have on those already using the drug(s). (i.e If a person is found with 5ibs of Crack, if Marijuana becomes legal, the person may argue that since Marijuana is allowed to be used freely this drug and others may one day.) With the court system, many of the arrests usually get either disposed (dismissed,) or the person either gets placed on probation has to do community service as well or serve between 6 months to 1 year in jail based upon the the amount and prior arrest. Also, creating a educational program similar to drinking arrest's. With the legalization of the drug, it would allow for those three aspect's I mentioned to be worked on and a plan would be in place for the courts in terms of how they wouldn't need to keep the person or people in jail for a long period of time unless they have prior convictions on their record for the same arrest.
