I personally think that “soft” drugs like marijuana should be legalized. Not only would it help people with their illnesses but it would also help the country with the deficit we are currently facing. I am one of the rare people that cannot use marijuana, even though I would qualify in my state for a medical marijuana card due to me having fibromyalgia. I will admit I have tried it to see if it would help with my pain, but it made me paranoid and have very strange behavior. So I decided not to ever do it again because I did not like feeling like that way. I do know people with their medical cards and it seems to help them with their ailments.
The pros for legalizing marijuana are that it can relieve certain types of pain, nausea, and vomiting in people. It can help people with different illnesses like AIDS, multiple sclerosis, and cancer. I know a few people that have used marijuana for a very long time and have never done any other drugs.
If marijuana was legalized in all states it would increase their revenue as it has in Colorado. Their sales were a little slow to go up but now that it has been legal there for a little while their revenue has increased quite a bit. If all states make it legal they would be able to benefit from the sales. Just as states do currently with cigarettes and alcohol. In my opinion, I think alcohol is much worse that marijuana. Marijuana has been used for centuries as medicine with good effects.
Some of the cons for legalizing marijuana would be that we do not have enough evidence right now to see what effects it has on people physically since there really has not been enough time to study it since it has been used
