The strain on the judicial system will lessen because of a decrease in drug related crimes, and drug potency can be managed. Tax surpluses can be put to better uses. Marijuana should be made legal in order to help families who live with severe medical issues, epilepsy, or post-traumatic stress disorder. For some the only treatment that is helpful is marijuana. In Colorado, the expected tax can produce as much as 60 million dollars in new revenue savings in the beginning years of legalization and 1.9 billion in the first five years in Washington. The revenue created from these taxes can be used on projects in the future. The amount of revenue that could be generated could be crucial to legalization in other states.
