Have you ever thought about all those homeless kids that barely have something to eat, or even a place to live? Imagine being one of them. Same-sex adoption is one of the various and more effective ways to minimize the number of these homeless children. According to UN sources, there are around 150 million street children all around the world today (1); no family, no home. “Adoption is not about finding children for families, it’s about finding families for children” says Joyce Maguire Pavao (2). Today, many same-sex couples have been able to adopt and have changed a child’s life. Letting same-sex adoption to be legal, is a very powerful way to succeed and help tremendously in many ways.
Same sex couples have their rights as any other person and they should be allowed to adopt children. If they don’t have right then there is no freedom or equality. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights it violates our rights, article 2 says “everyone is entitled to the same rights without discrimination of any kind” (3). Why can’t same sex partners be able to adopt if they deserve the same rights as a normal couple? No one should decide who is raising a child. Others think that if same-sex couples adopt, the kid will most likely be gay or lesbian. The fact in here is that there are kids who are raised by conventional couples and are still gay or lesbian. So does it is really matter who is raising you for you to become gay or lesbian? A child raised by a same-sex couple can be just as normal as any other child. The reason for normal couples to adopt a child is the same reason for same-sex couples, to share their love to that child and be their parents.
