Would school shootings be a problem if there were stricter gun control laws? You can purchase a shotgun at the age of 18, that is four years before you can even purchase a shot at a bar. Guns have the capability to kill someone and that is taking their life away forever, some people do not realize just how real that is. The United States has the most amount of school shootings since 2000 than any other country that is because the lack of gun control here in the US. Numerous lives are lost each year because of the lack of acknowledge that the government pays. 114,994 people are shot each year in the US which is including murders, assaults, police intervention, suicide attempts and suicides (Schuster). Each day there is a risk of a student or a stranger bringing a gun into school, but adding another gun into the mix is prolonging the idea. We want to stop school shootings not be prepared for when the next one comes. “a gun-free zone is let’s go in and lets attack because bullets aren’t coming back at us” (Merica) although our schools should not be gun free each school should have a deputy that is equipped to handle the situation. A parent of a previous school shooting says that she would rather arm teachers with the ways to prevent shootings in the first place rather than with a firearm(Merica).
