Syrian Immigration: A Debate There are many controversies occurring in the world at the current time. One of the burning controversies is the Syrian refugee crisis. The Syrian refugee crisis is a problem caused by Syrian immigrants fleeing Syria to find a safer country to live in. This crisis has led to numerous effects which has left politicians wondering how they should handle this in a manner in which both the countries and the immigrants are happy. World leaders must solve this issue by looking at the root of the problem. There are numerous amounts of security risks involved with accepting the migrants into European countries. Some people are radicalized by propaganda on websites that terrorist groups have posted. People know from past experience that there are immigrants that come into the country with the intent of committing terrorist acts. European nations along with the United States must make sure that the Syrians who are coming inside their borders are clean of any hazardous materials such as bombs. There have been open threats made by ISIS that they will be hiding terrorists among the migrants into European lands as they do not want Europe to allow these foreigners into their borders. ISIS does not want Syrians to leave the country as they would rather try to radicalize the people and have them join them (Yurcaba). Secondly, ISIS wants the West to reject the refugees so that they can “punish those it believes are traitors" (Yurcaba). Recently, there was a horrible terrorist attack in Paris- “killed at least 120 people in the deadliest violence to strike France since World War II” (Hinnant & Keller)- for which ISIS took credit. One of these bombers came in posing as an immigrant (Did). The attacker’s name was found on a passport on his person after the attack (Did). It is believed that he came in through Greece and later made his way to mainland Europe and eventually to France (Did). There are many questions of safety for the countries and refugees that are being asked when deciding whether or not to accept these Syrian
