One text, one second, one word is all it takes to change a life. Texting and driving has become a major problem around the United States due to the recent technology advances. This life risking action has the ability to change one’s life or someone else’s life in a matter of seconds. Accident or death causing, putting yourself or others in danger, and distracted drivers are all very valid reasons why one should believe that this act is very detrimental.
Many drivers can’t fight the urge to pick up their phone while driving. This action is capable of causing an accident, which may lead to a death. Each day in the United States, more than 9 people are killed and around 1,153 people are injured because of a driver that was distracted by their mobile device while operating a vehicle. These are daily deaths that can be resolved if people would realize the dangers of texting and driving. The National Safety Council states that phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes annually. People agree that they know the dangers of this action but they continue to partake in this dangerous act. Why? People feel the need

For that split second that your eyes are off the road, you put your own life at risk including people you may or may not know. Imagine if you are the driver of a full car and you decide to glance at your phone. If something were to happen in this short period of time, your life will be changed forever. Not only are you proceeding in a careless act but you are also breaking state laws. How would you feel if someone got injured because of a text message that couldn’t wait until you were parked? I know that I would never be able to forgive myself and I will live with this regret inside of me my whole life. One text message is not worth the possibility of putting others in danger. Trust me, it can
