Many people have been trying to get sports banned in public schools due to the dangers, distractions, and the enormous costs they carry with them. Many other schools think that sports are helpful to a student's academic success and general well being. Despite the fact that some schools are eliminating sports, facts show that sports should stay in public schools. Exercise is known to boost energy and mood. In a mayo Clinic Study, doctors state that “Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed”(Exercise). Having coaches tell the athletes how to prevent injuries is just another lesson to learn. There is not a day in life where there is not a chance of serious injury. Someone can be walking down the street and get hit by a car. Does this make it a good reason to live inside afraid of what could be? Its is good to experience life and if these athletes chose to put themselves out there with the change of getting hurt, it is their decision. The opportunity to be apart of a team should not be taken away because someone wants sports to be banned due to the risk they hold. Also, not all students stray from their schoolwork. Most schools have rules saying athletes who are failing are not eligible. This is an incentive to do well. Most schools have study halls, homework can be done in the time given to them. They do not need to lose sleep because they have a late night
