1664 Words7 Pages

I am writing this letter to you to inform you of the potential presidential candidates for the 2016 election. Due to the fact that you are my little sister, I feel that it is my personal responsibility to help you learn more about each of the candidates and what their stances are on topics that may affect you. I feel that as a young girl, one of the two topics that you should deeply consider is the idea of raising the minimum wage, because as a young, uneducated female you will be automatically placed into the low-income bracket with the jobs that you are qualified for. I hope that you will vote for someone who will try to make that minimum wage job livable for you. The other topic that I would like you to consider when voting is consider …show more content…

Bernie Sanders believes that a person who works full time should not have their family living in poverty (Sanders on Minimum Wage). He says that the real-value of minimum wage has dropped by 30% since 1968, meaning that money earned from a minimum wage paycheck is worth 30% less than what it used to be worth, so you will have 30% less buying power (Sanders on Minimum Wage). He wants every girl to be able to choose what happens to their body. During his time as a senator, he has voted that abortion be pro-choice every single time, so we know that he is able to be counted on (Sanders on Abortion). Hillary Clinton is also very supportive of women’s rights and is pro-choice as well (Clinton on Abortion). On the Republican side, both Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina are pro-life. They both think that abortion should be illegal, with the exception of rape, incest, or if the mother’s life is threatened due to the pregnancy (Trump and Fiorina on Abortion). I know that you are interested in a pro-choice president who will allow you the opportunity to choose what you think is best for your own life, so I know that these candidates are not the best choice for
