Childhood obesity has become a worldwide epidemic, but seeing and understanding the problem is the issue. Childhood obesity is due to the pricing that is on healthy foods, poor dieting in children, and the lack of physical activities. It turns out that the road through our stomachs may run through our wallets. The prices on healthy foods such as chicken, lean beef, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables are quite high.

While there are other countries that are battling obesity, America leads the world in percentage of people who are obese. Or why some of the only food related commercials you ever see are of cartoon characters promoting a sugary cereal? 1 in 3 children in America are obese or overweight due to a variety of factors, including an overuse of online/mainstream medias, lack of physical activity, and an unhealthy diet. Rather than promoting daily exercise and healthy eating habits, television ads promote unhealthy foods to the American youth. Children are targeted by marketers from the moment they open their eyes everyday to the moment they fall asleep at night.
Obesity in America Obesity rates in America have been rapidly growing since 1980’s. The food portions have been getting larger and the regular exercise has been getting smaller. In America, the more people eat the less they exercise. The groups of people that are becoming more affected are those with the lower income. American’s are becoming more obese every year, especially those with the lower incomes.
The fate of The United States of America rests on the shoulders of the youth. The children of today will become tomorrow’s politicians, community leaders, and voters. Their physical and mental health will greatly affect the choices they make when they become adults, thus, affecting the future of our nation, for better or worse. There have been reports of kids under the age of 12 weighing in at over 200 pounds. Parents are responsible for what their kids put into their bodies. Families have lots of different opportunities presented to them to choose healthier options, some choose to take advantage of this and some don't. Parents have a variety of different foods that they can offer to their kids. What they allow them to eat is completely their decision.

People around the world are dealing with the new era issue of obesity. The solution to start making advances to a healthy society is to start by getting rid of childhood obesity. The younger generation is at risk for continuing the almost unstoppable obesity epidemic.

Childhood obesity was on the rise in the United States until Barack Obama went into office. As the Obama’s were in office, they begin to make the necessary adjustments to lower the number of obesity. First Lady Michelle Obama’s plan to turn around childhood obesity was named Let’s Move. The Let’s Move movement was geared to have a healthier generation of children.
What would you do if stopping childhood obesity was left in your hands? Nearly 1 in 3 children (ages 2-19) in the United States is overweight or obese. This can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart failure in the future (“Learn About Our Cause”). There are a number of contributors to childhood obesity; this includes television, media, lack of daily physical activity, marketing unhealthy foods, and limited access to healthy affordable food. An organization, founded by Michelle Obama, called, “Let’s Move” abides by her mission of being “… determined to work with folks across this country to change the way a generation of kids thinks about food and nutrition.
Imagine having to sit in bed all day and having your parents have to take care of you while you try to live a free life. This is the reality if you were that heavy that you couldn’t get out of bed. Some people have to deal with that every day, I hope you think about what it would be like before you try to eat too much or stress eat, also warn family and friends the outcomes of becoming obese. Obesity is an extensive problem in the United States. “25% of children in poorer areas are obese, compared to about 11% in more affluent areas”(Ellen). This is surprisingly true. You would assume that impoverished people would not have sufficient calorie intake, and become underweight opposed to overweight. People believe the amount of activity level or food consumption leads to obesity, while others believe financial standings causes obesity.
300, 600, 900, 1,300 calories and counting. It sounds like a lot, right? In fact, us as humans are only supposed to have 2,000 healthy calories a day. It seems that some people have tested the limits, and haven’t done just that, but they’ve put their own health in danger.
