Education Leadership Philosophy and Practice

Introduction
My experience in management has allowed me to develop and hone my personal mix of philosophies and styles. This has then evolved to adapt into the field of education leadership.
My belief is that excellent leadership, that is, providing direction and influence, not only matters but is only eclipsed by teaching in its impact on the development and the learning of students in school. I believe leadership can be summed up as setting justifiable direction/goals and then influencing and guiding members to move in that direction as well as instilling and guiding the community in best practice and behaviour. Endeavouring to mentor and guide the whole school in working better for all the stakeholders but most especially the students. This is achieved by providing faculty, staff and school personnel with the necessary support and training, education and information to parents and school owners (or the Board) and putting in place the right conditions, incentives and rewards to positively impact on teaching and learning.
My leadership style also places importance on offering job and intellectual stimulation, support to individual members of staff, modelling best practice and sharing some autonomy and mentoring.

My view of the priorities and areas to be monitored include: setting goals and setting standards; sourcing and recruiting staff; supervising and evaluating staff; establishing an instructional and curricular focus; ensuring a standard curriculum and evaluating instruction; and monitoring curriculum and instruction. However, a school is not just what happens in the classroom but what happens with regard to the students thinking. As international educators and administrators we are entrusted to instil and develop students responsibilities as members of the world community. Introduce and nurture an understanding of the world around them: conservation, climate change, limited natural resources, poverty and a multitude of issues that as members of the world community and possible future leaders of the world they will have to
