Philosophy Statement The philosophy that I correlate the most with is social reconstructionism philosophy. Social reconstructionism promotes schools, teachers, and students to focus on the social content of the world. The next highest score resulted in a tie between essentialism and progressivism. Essentialism is the philosophy that focuses on the emphasis of the core curriculum. This is the idea of a basic, traditional classroom. Progressivism is based on students having real- world experiences, which refers to field trips and life lessons. I like the social aspect in a classroom because it helps the students feel more relaxed. class, I feel that the importance of exercise should be the main focus. I will teach the importance of exercise by playing games and activities such as: basketball, kickball, relay races, and fun workouts. The key to getting people to exercise is to make it fun for the person. If you are playing a game or activity, you may not realize how much exercise you are getting because you are to busy having fun. Nobody wants to just do sit ups, push ups, and all those other boring workouts. While playing games and activities, it is important to teach the idea of teamwork and understanding others. For example, in relay races you can’t win until all of your team has finished. This shows the importance of life being about society as a whole and not as a bunch of individuals. The teacher should set the ground rules for the class, but at the same time not be to controlling. It is important to allow students to have responsibilities in the classroom, that way they don’t feel like they are being controlled. This can be done in a P.E. class by having students set up the activities for the day after showing them the way it should be set up. I would also have each student take turns leading the stretches for the day. This also lets students be themselves more and really open up to the class. When students feel open, it makes the class more enjoyable because you can get to know and understand your students better. Students will be able to express who they are, but the teacher also needs to have some rules that has the students behaving the right
