“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

In the preamble to the Declaration of Independence it states that no man is more than the other. We are all created equal and it is our God given right, “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator”. It sends the message that we are all equals and that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is something that can not be taken away from us. We as humans all came from the same place, the same “Creator” and are entitled to these rights for as long as we live. Alongside many significant figures like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson was hand picked to write the this part of the Declaration. Together these men made up the Second Continental and was completely biased. They claimed to say that all men were equal when everyone who wrote this looked all the same, high social class white men with power who owned slaves. This time was highly significant because it was the day when America finally declared their independence from Britain. Pennsylvania was the capital and became where the colonies met. As well as it being the place where most battles between Britain took place making the place also significant. The setting colors the meaning because Pennsylvania is where the roots of America flourished and eventually became the place where independence was finally
