Fast food, what a lot of people generally view as a quick way to get some good food, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner, is actually killing more people than you might think. In this modern time, almost everyone knows that fast food isn’t particularly the best thing for you to eat, but that won’t even come close to stopping us from eating it. I wonder why do we not ban fast food or limit it? The answer is simple; it makes us money. If people know fast food is bad for them, why is it everywhere? If you live a life filled with fast food, your life can lead to obesity, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Obesity rates in the United States from 1990-2005 have grown tremendously during this period. The United States average has grown from 12% in 1990 to 23% in 2005 (ObesityAmerica). Childhood obesity is also becoming widespread and growing problem in the world with significant medical psychological, and economic consequences. Child Obesity is a major public health problem with both individual and environmental causes that can be related to the changes in child body 's weight, nutrition, and public health studies (childobesity). When students are at school all day they need to feed their brain to stay function and their body can sometimes be hard to balance with grades and good eating habits so fast food would be their go to (convenience p1). Also, when a student is spending a lot of money on food at school, they are most likely going to look for something cheap. For example, I use to wake up early to go to school and then I would have to go to work afterwards and I would be at work till 6pm so between my shifts, fast food would be my go to. As you can tell, Fast food may not be the best choice when deciding what to eat for lunch, but for college students it is very convenient. According to fast food chains, the food service industries that offer the highest levels of convenience have been rewarded with strong sales growth(fastfoodchains). One of the main factors of why people eat fast food so much is maybe that’s what they can only afford. One of the greatest advantage of fast food is that it saves time.
