“People are more important than animal, and if work on animals can save lives then it is worth it.” -Cynthia Burnett (Burenett, 6). There’s pros and cons to animal testing, but it saves human and animals life, so, therefore, it is necessary. The following essay will go over: animal testing laws, the animals body, and animal research facts. There’s many laws that pertain to medical research on animals. The United States government will shut down many medical treatments, unless they have been tested on animals. The law does require animal testing, before giving any types of cancer drugs (Chang, 3). “Animals, especially mammals are very similar to humans.” (Chang, 2). Testing these animals that are human like have conquered many diseases. “First tested on animals have conquered a range of human diseases.” (Chang, 2). There are other ways we could experiment, like computer models. However, there are many benefits from using animals, because animals give us real life results (Chang, 2). Computer models can help us but not in a way the hands on animal testing helps us. We gain hand on knowledge and experiments with animals that benefit humans and animals (Chang, 2). What animal research protesters don’t know is that there are over 350 human disease that have an animal counterpart. Which means animals can have the same disease humans have.
