Kids in Tough Situations Around Adults
Each level of school is preparing students for the next step. If that next step is 2nd grade or if it’s college, all students should be taught early in their learning career how to deal with different situations. When teachers slip up in front of kids and do something that is not appropriate, the kids need to be educated with different situations when it comes to an adult's behavior that is not good, and how the students should react to the situation. Students of all ages should be knowledgeable of what a good action is for a teacher to do, what is over the line, and what steps need to be taken place. This will allow the teacher to learn from his or her mistake so it won’t happen again. Most schools do everything they can to make sure the students are in a comfortable environment to learn. A lot of the attention is to teach what to do in a student versus student situation. Rarely are they taught what to do in a student versus adult, or teacher, situation. Kids need to be taught if the teachers action were appropriate or not for the situation. Then they need to wait and see if the problem is getting worse, or if it is becoming less of a problem. Teaching a kid what adults should and shouldn't do around them is very important. If a new situation pops up where an adult is acting badly, then the students should have no hesitation on how to act on the problem. If a teacher or another adult is physically rough with a student, the victim and the bystanders will all know that what just happened, shouldn’t happen. And that is the first step.
