Classroom Management Plan
My goal is to one day, hopefully, be a certified English as a Foreign Language Teacher. In order to effectively manage classroom behaviors in order to maintain a stress-free environment conducive to effective classroom learning. Newman stated, “classroom management is a set of procedures and systems that are put into effect in a classroom to create an environment that focuses on student learning” (Newman, 2013).

Give clear directions.
Try giving commands that are polite statements rather than questions. For example, “Please choose a card. Please go to the board and answer the problem.” Try to give positive directions rather than negative directions.
7. Be consistent and follow through with consequences.
Explain the consequences and be firm when enforcing them.
Don’ts:
1. Reward negative behavior with attention.
Only praise the student when he/she is doing behavior that you like and ignore them when they act out.
2. Repeat a command multiple times.
When you constantly repeat the same command over and over again, it loses its powers and teaches the students that they do not have to listen. Instead, have them lose the privilege of participating in a game if they do not listen or follow directions.
3. Don’t use teaching as a consequence or punishment.
Make consequences or punishments related to the actual infraction that was committed. For example, if the student refuses to stay in his/her chair, then take the chair away.
