Introduction Continuing one’s education after you have gotten a degree and employment is important. It is important to stay abreast of the new information coming your in your field. In the field of medicine, you need to know the latest information for your patients. As an educator of nurses, it is important to know this information because you are educating the next generation of nurses. These nurses count on you as their educator to know what is happening in the world of nursing, in medicine and in the world.
Goals for the next year My professional goals for the next year are limited due to family obligations. With my husband being active duty military, we move frequently. I also have 2 small children, one of whom has special needs. Due to this, I cannot take a full-time position as a nursing instructor until my husband retires in the year 2020. I do plan on fulfilling my me continuing education requirements for my license by taking classes offered by my employer and attending seminars. I will also continue my own knowledge enrichment by researching topics that I find interesting that involve nursing education. At the five year plan my husband will be retired and I will be able to return to work full time. I plan on finding an employment as a nursing educator in Ohio. Continuing education will still be a priority to me for licensure requirements. I also plan on being on committees at the school where I work. I would like to be on the admissions committee, to see those people would want to be nurses and to help them get admitted to nursing school. One of my long term goes to complete by year five post-graduation are to obtain employment as a nursing educator at my alma mater.
