No, due process does not violate the fourteenth Amendment of United Stated Constitution in regards to after school detention because the discipline does not “derive any person of life, liberty, or property” (U.S. Const Amend. 14). Detention means “the withholding of what belongs to or is claimed by another” (Dictionary.com). In reference to school discipline procedure a detention is withholding the claim of release from the institution of education set forth by the state’s department of education for minor infraction.
Many students want to go home and please their parents with a good test score. It makes them feel accepted. To a child, their parents being proud of them is the best thing that they could receive. But in middle school, many students are failing those tests, getting bad grades. The only difference between elementary school and middle school is more individual topics and recess.
There are pros and cons to year round schooling. Summer should be a time for kids to get a break from the previous school year. Another reason is that kids should do enriching activities in the summer, along with scheduling fun, family trips. Although, year round schooling makes it difficult for these things to happen during the summer. Year round schools can also help prevent summer learning loss, or “summer slide”.
Long breaks are stealing students ' knowledge right from their hands and making teachers precisely planned lessons go to waste. When students come back from long breaks, such as summer, they can’t even remember what math is. This is because having more of these long breaks gives pupils a lengthy span of time to do nothing. At the beginning of the summer students are so excited when they can finally put on their swimsuits and hang out with their friends. As the summer goes on they start to get bored of sitting at home.
I disagree with this decision you had made. I don’t think there is a reason to cancel the 8th grade advancement. The 8th grade Advancement had been a tradition at this school for many years. I think It is an expected and anticipating part of the the 8th grade school year. I feel that so many students and parents have been looking forward it, I do not think it is a good idea to cancel it now.
Garfield middle school is an urban/ suburban school. Schools say they are urban because they contain African Americans and that’s the nicest way they can label the school. The literacy scores of the school are low because the school contains 65 percent Latinos. There are about 1000 students from 6th grade to 8th grade in the school. The secret of the school that I felt that the principal and other workers within that district is that anyone could walk in and be a substitute even though they made us feel that the teachers need to have a real connection and care for the job to be hired.
Hook (question, interesting fact, or story): Evidence #2: In the article “pros and cons of year-round-school?” on paragraph 9 it states that “Student summer employment becomes virtually impossible” This shows if the student can work, they will not be able to help their family out or complete their working hours necessary for them to graduate high school. Body 1: Reason #1: First, Kids should not go to year-around schoolings Because it didn’t have a difference on the kids academically. Evidence #1: First, on the article “Pros and cons of year-round schools” by Melissa Kelly on paragraph 9 it says, “studies have not conclusively proven the academic benefits.”
A problem has been growing across the nation for years as the nation falls behind in the test scores, Eldorado High School recently has also been plagued by problems of dropping test scores. In The Texas Education Agency 2017 Accountability Summary, the only distinct designation earned for high school was in academic achievement in science. The school also missed student progress standards by two points. This is a red flag as the school district is not being commended, let alone passing all standards. In order for Eldorado High School to improve test scores, students should be placed in an environment similar to prison, free of all distractions, and spend their time focused on school.
“As I see it, the debate between summer vacation vs. year-round school glosses over the most important questions namely, how can we bring play back to our nation’s schools?” (Darell Hammond) Year-round schooling would cause many problems if implemented at shattuck because Year-round schooling cost to much money and Kids need free time, and time with family and friends, also If you go to year-round schooling you won 't learn more than traditional schooling. Year-round schooling cost to much money. With the loss of these extracurricular activities, the school would then lose money that the activity brings in.
I think that we should keep the 8th grade graduations. Graduation for the 8th grade is a big milestone in teens lives, because it means they 're going to high school. I think that it also lets people get the chance to expand a skill of theirs like (for me) art, since they can get awards for things like that, and a few other things. My opinion on the 8th grade graduations, are that they are pretty cool (even though they are long).
Have you ever felt like you are not taking in as much as you could from your first few classes well if you have you are right. Your brain is not actually taking in information until 8:30AM that is because you should not be waking up until 8:00 AM. The reason for this is your mental clock. A mental clock is how your brain decides when you should be sleeping and when you should be getting up in the morning.
Should all high schools in America be replaced by early college high schools? Why there are good reasons for students to go to early college high school, they are not always good reasons. Not all students would excel at early college high schools, school boards would be paying more money, and more students would be more likely to drop out. Early college high schools should be for those students who work hard to achieve the accomplishment of earning an associate degree. Many students joke around and could care less about their education, but at an early college, it is imperative that students care about their school work.
Common Core is a widely debated topic here in America. However I feel like it shouldn't be because it violates one of our Bill of Rights, the 10th Amendment to be exact “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the states Respectively, or to the people.” (10th Amendment in the Constitution) Therefore, it’s the individual rights of the states to decide if they want to use Common Core. But, I do feel like it's useless.
Common Core has unfounded negative connotations. Society does not like change and Common Core calls for change. The reality is Common Core changes the way our children learn material and better prepares them for college and a future career. Alexandra Petri laments “70 percent of high school seniors’ reading assignments be nonfiction” (CITE). This is not an unattainable or irrational goal for those preparing to enter college level courses or the workforce.
As a stated fact, every person has a distinct personality of their own, yet for centuries, scientists and philosophers have debated for centuries whether this personality stems from the result of nature or nurture. Jean Jacques Rousseau argued that, from the time a person is born, the genes inherited from blood family determines the result of a person’s character, predetermining the personality of one before they enter the world. John Locke, on the other spectrum, debated that when an individual is born, they are given a blank slate and all knowledge and behaviors are gained from observing the exterior world. In Mary Shelley's novel, “Frankenstein,” Shelley takes a clear stance on the nature versus nurture quandary and clearly sides with how
