Should animal testing be banned?
Mr. Chairman, honorable judges, worthy opponents, ladies and gentlemen: This is the resolution for today’s debate, resolved: should the government ban all animal testing? The question tends to be a touchy subject throughout the world because of the negativity that comes with testing animals. As the first negative I do agree that animal testing is cruel but without animal testing we would not have a lot of things that we have today. Animal testing has brought the world a number of medical breakthroughs including blood transfusions, insulin, antibiotics and more according to the foundation of biomedical research.

Without animal testing there would be a number of issues to resolve. If we were to get rid of animal testing some issues that would be broughtis, how would we be able to have any medical breakthroughs, in both the medical and veterinary industries. Without animal testing we would be forced to make scientific experiments on people which would be way more controversial and inhuman than animal testing. And if we were to get rid of animal testing there would also be no veterinary medical breakthroughs due to the fact that to cure animals you would have to use the animal testing method to be able to understand and cure the disease. …show more content…

We as the affirmative define animal welfare as the right to test on animals as long as the animal is being treated well. Meaning the animal has the right to a clean environment food and water as well as proper health care for the animal making animal testing
