Have you ever wondered about de-extinction of animals? If you haven’t, I am going to tell you what de-extinction is and why I think it is a bad idea. De-extinction is the process of bringing back and animal from past times that has gone extinct. I think it is a bad idea because of how much it would cost, we don’t know where the animals would live, and we don’t know what they would eat. These reasons are why I think bringing back these animals is a bad idea. First of all, It would be an insane amount of money. The tools and technology needed to perform de-extinction would be a lot of money and that is not considering time, labor, and animals. People believe the government would pay for the costs but they would have to take money from other conservation efforts to have enough money (Zielinski,S.,2017). If that happens, then other conservation efforts would be losing money they could be using for other projects. Another thing is if they spend all this money and the process is not successful, then that would be a whole lot of money lost and wasted(Zielinski,S.,2017). They need to know the process has a good chance at being successful before going and spending a lot of money. …show more content…

The scientists would have to find a habitat that has the perfect climate and a lot of space for the animals to flourish. If the scientists found a place for the animals to live, they would have to watch the animals for a long time and help them be reintroduced to the planet(Zielinski,S.,2017). If the animals had nowhere to live they would suffer and eventually die off because of not having a perfect habitat for the animals to live in(Basulto,D.,ND)If the scientists are going to keep on working towards bringing back one of these animals, they need to wait until they know where the animals would
