The ethical issue that I have chosen to write about is Human trafficking. According to ABA Journal (2015), there is an estimate of 2 to 4 million individuals from the United States are trafficked each year worldwide and another estimate worldwide as many as 12.3 million adults and children from United Nations may currently be victims of trafficking. (p. 42) But, what is human trafficking? Human trafficking is often referred to as modern-day slavery in which these individuals are threatened by both traffickers and the state itself. In fact, these individuals are being recruited, contracted, and transported by traffickers to be controlled with physical or psychological abuse and threats to be profited from their labor. In addition, I would apply the theories of utilitarianism, and deontology, as well as, the perspective of relativism, emotivism, and ethical egoism to state that human trafficking is unethical because it steals the person’s rights to freedom by allowing traffickers profiting from their sweat and tears. …show more content…
First, the argument would be if it were right for a persons human rights to be stripped away by someone else. Second, the argument would be if it were right for anyone safety to jeopardize by a violent or abusive individual(s). Third, the argument would be if it were alright for women and children to be held captive against their will. Conversely, most individuals discussing this social issue would automatically state that it is unethical or simply wrong to exploit men, women, and children in those conditions, yet it is still happening every year by these traffickers profiting off the crimes they are committing. All in all, we need to decide how unethical or ethical is human trafficking in both perspective of victims and
