Three of the deadliest mass shootings in US modern history have happened in the last five months and people are searching for a change. Churches, concerts, schools, and other gun free zones are no longer safe for citizens of America, but why? Part of the country believes it’s the result of such easy accessibility to guns and by placing restriction on certain types of guns and certain people from obtaining guns, the problem will diminish. The other half of the country believes allowing more people to have guns, such as teachers, then we will be able to protect ourselves and put fear into the criminal's mind, therefore diminishing the problem as well. In the first source that I analyzed, “Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted”. This website listed out the pros and the cons of establishing more gun restrictions. The pros of establishing such laws include the banning of high- capacity magazine, as these often turn murder into mass murder. According to ProCons.org, “When high-capacity magazines were used in mass shootings, the death rate rose 63% and the injury rate rose 156%”. ( , ). Shooters with such magazines don’t have to reload, this means that the amount of deaths increase dramatically because each second matters in a shooting. Another pro of enacting more gun control laws is the support of both anti-gun supports and gun owners on common sense gun control. Common sense gun control consists of more background checks, bans on assault weapons, and the ban of high- capacity magazines. Personally I can’t find a reason to disagree with this idea, there is no reason to have such powerful weapons and more background checks only means a safer
