Should Students Have to Take Standardized Tests?
On this week’s agenda, Monday through Wednesday, test. Thursday and Friday, test. We all need tests to show how well we did in our classes, but we shouldn’t have to take so many. For one, there are overlaps in tests, We spend too much time on taking tests, and finally, it takes a while to get our scores back. First of all, when students have standardized tests, they also have regular assignments for that class. That makes an overlap in test. “Students took tests on the same subject twice within a week,” stated a Riverside student. Also, taking exam after exam will cause the students to stress over the test and start second guessing their answers. Some people might say that if they take test on the same subject, they will get at least one good grade for that subject. Last year, Riverside students spent up to two months on nothing but nonstop testing. The students didn't get hardly any learning done, which may have put them behind in classwork. If they are behind in classwork, that means that after testing they will have even more work to do, resulting in students gaining more stress and won’t do their best in school. Some might interject that taking all these assessments will help them learn something they didn’t know in that subject, but how is that so, if with all the testing they don’t know what they got wrong or right, if the grades take forever to get
