More or less Standardized tests?

Have you ever been sitting in class taking a standardized test and wondering why you have to take so many? The answer is you don’t. keep reading to find out how. I think we should shorten the amount of tests we take throughout our lives because they are too expensive, they don’t show all a student knows and they put teaching to the test. The first piece of evidence I have is that the tests are too costly. In one year, we could save 1.7 billion dollars in the states alone. The billion dollar testing industry is known for making expensive and time-consuming scoring errors. Hawaii once had to regrade 98,000 tests because the testing industries made so many mistakes. Bracey, PhD. This means that the tests don’t show all that a student knows. This test only shows Intelligence Quotient or IQ. These are a few reasons they don’t show everything people know. In addition, Testing puts teaching to the test.When standardized exams become all important in a school or district, it has a massive impact on teaching and learning. Educators frequently start “teaching to the test” if they feel that their jobs only depend on how well students perform. Educators may also stop trying new techniques and teaching methods in the classroom. With every minute counting on the way to their students’ next exam, teachers will worry that a method that is not tested will backfire and their students will score worse than before.
