After an extensive period of uncertainty regarding my career interests, I made the choice to major in Human Relations. When I expressed my feelings of uncertainty to my professors and mentors, I was met with critical advice and suggestions. In the short time that I have been a student here, the University of Oklahoma has aided me in pinpointing my strengths and interests. I learned that I thrive in environments where I can support and acknowledge those around me. I am successful when expressing myself, listening to others, and constructing an inclusive environment. I am resourceful, ambitious, reliable, and am dedicated to learning and improving my skills. One recommendation I received was to begin taking major specific classes, and it was in my Introduction to Human Relations course that I realized I could apply my personal strengths in class, while also getting a degree. The Human Relation’s Department offers a degree that combines two of my passions; people and social issues. One of the things I love about being a student at the University of Oklahoma is that it allows me to explore all my options while providing me with resources that allow me to maximize my opportunities. After completing my Bachelor’s Degree I hope to be accepted into graduate school at the University of Oklahoma, where I can become a permanent part of a community that has accepted me with open arms. Ultimately, I would love to a part of the support system of faculty who want to see students succeed, and go above and beyond to assist them in doing so.
