Introduction
The health care delivery, Policy and Quality Outcome contextual project strives to bring to the fore the key aspects of healthcare services, its importance in my professional life and career as a nurse. It highlights the challenges that the nursing fraternity face and using health models it shows how these gaps can be amended through formulation of public health care policies premised on customer needs and desired outcomes.
The project will conclude after a critical analysis of the models, their usefulness in current research and application in current health circles. I will also take my personal reflective opinion on the field under study.

Health belief model
This model looks at a person’s belief and behavior towards preventing disease, by breaking down the disease prevention variables into specific individual’s perception towards illness and action that will be taken to prevent illness. The key perceptions can be the perceived severity and individual susceptibility to the disease. It also looks at the individual’s perceived benefits from the nursing interventions.
In essence the Health Belief Model looks at avoiding an illness not achieving health. This model therefore is critical in understanding and explaining the individual health behaviors.
As a health practitioner therefore I can use this model in raising awareness aimed at specific disease in the community that I serve. To be an effective worker I am required to have a clear understanding and an insight of health beliefs about the people I serve. This understanding will guide me into modifying individual’s behaviors towards disease prevention.
