Have you ever heard stories or news of people who may have gotten targeted just because of their race or ethnicity? That’s a category racial profiling comes under, and many people of color are being stopped by police due to racial as well as ethnic backgrounds. Racial profiling effects minority as well as a community as a whole, when it ties in with discrimination, serious psychological effects, and just an overall inefficient tactic. Assuming one is up to something suspicious just from looking at the color of their skin hasn’t done good for both citizens and police. When a victim of this subject got tested by psychologists, they have found the effects include post-traumatic stress disorder and a couple other stress-related disorders, just due to threats for their race. Social effects are also something that has an effect on the way victims feel; fear, racism, and even financial costs. People shouldn’t have to worry about things such as that and the effects are just terrible. It may also not just have something on the one who was a victim of profiling, because it can effect classmates, friends, family, and neighbours. As if it isn’t already hurting many people, police will just do it to “make sure”. Checking if someone is up to something just because their a different race than the majority isn’t okay. Profiling shouldn’t even be considered as a method of policing. It may also distract officers from an actual sign or signs of suspicious behaviour among others. This will also cause the community to lose trust in the law enforcement and how they aren’t stopping their continuous act of racism against innocent
