In the previous decade, video games have drastically evolved from straight forward gaming, for example, Pac-Man and Frogger to highly detailed games that are fully interactive. Most games from the past are based on adventure and action, yet few violent video games. However, there was one game in the 70’s called Death Race. This was the most violent game of the age. The object of the game was to run over gremlins with a car. The controversy sparked because the gremlins resembled humans in the shape of stick figures. Graphics were not as cutting edge at the time, so every game in that decade looked similar. This game is far beyond worst. It has only released in Japan because they have different video game laws; notwithstanding, this game would not have stood a chance in the U.S. with its cruelty toward women. The video game permits players to rape women and underage girls. There are even more games similar to this one. There is a genre of games called Hentai games, and they are the games that all have something to do violence against females. Women are portrayed as helpless or sexually provocative in most of these games. Kyung Lah notes, “A national law that would make possession of real and virtual images of child porn illegal is under discussion, but no serious legislation has moved forward in Japan's parliament.” According to the quote, Japan does not consider this to be a top priority; therefore, hentai game creators will continue creating games like Rapelay. Kids are getting influenced to believe that they can commit these crimes without any punishment. In the past years, we have had various school shootings that are done by kids. We all I know or think that the average child is taught right from wrong from their parents. So how are these kids learning or building these evil emotions to kill someone? According to Mike Nizza, of the New York Times, “Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went on their shooting rampage at Columbine High School after their parents took away their video game privileges.” These two kids were only seventeen and eighteen. They went on a massacre and killed thirteen people. Doom is the game that brainwashed the boys to do the unsavory act. Marc Gross, of CNN, concludes, “Doom was the first time many people had seen a first-person shooter game. There was also blood and gore, shotguns and chainsaws.” Procon.org emphasizes that, “By age 18, American children will have seen 16,000 murders and 200,000 acts of violence depicted in violent video games, movies, and television. A Sep. 2011 peer-reviewed study found a causal link between violent video game exposure and an increase in aggression as a result of a reduction in the brain's response to depictions of real-life
