Code of Ethics Paper Ethics hold a responsibility over an individual’s moral decisions to see wrong versus right. Decisions within an organization exist from a group or individuals determining them; however, these decisions are based upon the culture of the company. Ethical behavior, as well as corporate social responsibility, commits a business to practice moral decisions. In the long run, this generates significant benefits to the company and other stakeholders. On the contrary, businesses that lack in ethical behavior or corporate social responsibility will eventually lose their reputation and be less appealing to their stakeholders. These companies may share similarities or even have differences in their codes with their primary values. These values help them sustain strong ethical behavior with a corporate social responsibility to society. To begin, Raytheon’s Code of Conduct is founded on the values of people, integrity, commitment, and excellence. Within each of these values are bullet points that define what they are looking for in employees. For a few examples, they define people as treating people with dignity and respect, integrity as being honest and trustworthy, and commitment as being accountable. Raytheon commits this code to all of their workers ranging from directors to representatives because they want to have these expectations within their community engrained in the organization to demonstrate how they conduct business as well as conserve the reputation of the company. On the other hand, Boeing’s Code of Conduct appears to be completely centralized around the employees. Raytheon stands behind the values of people, integrity, commitment, and excellence. But what steps do they take to make sure that these values are practiced within the heart of the company? For the first example let’s focus on Raytheon’s value of people. Raytheon focuses on treating people with dignity and respect under this category. We can accomplish this value by establishing an inclusive workforce in the organization. What it means to be an inclusive workforce is first started by diversity in management. If you can bring a variety of ethnic groups or genders to an organization, this opens an avenue for creativity and innovative thinking within the organization with different abilities. This makes them unbiased towards race, religion, gender, and sexual orientation which in turn creates an environment that breeds excellence. It also establishes an open line of communication between employees where they can bring up issues without much confrontation. Another value we can look at is integrity. Raytheon defines integrity as being honest, trustworthy, accountable, and forthright. For instance, we as a part of Raytheon will put everything on the table and leave nothing out when making a business deal with another company. That will tarnish the reputation and what we stand for as an organization. If we can’t adhere
