This week’s lecture attention was directed towards nonprofit organizations mission, vision, and value statement. The mission statement reflects what an organization wants to accomplish. The vision statement is what it will look like if the organization succeed. While the value statement displays how an organization will behave as completing the mission. All the statements mentioned are important to the overall mission. The mission is a guiding and unifying force to keep the organization focus on what they are truly trying to accomplish.

Also, the board of directors are responsible to determine what the mission statement will accomplish. Nevertheless, a great mission statement must be brief, sticky, not a laundry list, motivating, discriminating, and enduring.
In addition, it would be beneficial for a nonprofit organization to have a vision statement. A vision statement gives the nonprofit an idea of how things could be if the organization would succeed. The vision could also bring in some additional inspiration that is not found in the mission statement. As well the vision statement is an aid guide to planning for the organization. The vision statement is mainly to be internal to motivate the staff.
Moreover, the value statement assists in establishing a culture in the organization. The value statement informs the people of the organization on how they should be behaving to accomplish the mission. In addition, to showing others what it is like to be a part of the organization as well. Once an organization understands and accept their values it will help them to make the appropriate decisions for the organization. Ultimately, the value statement is a great tool for empowerment towards the organization.
