According to recent studies almost 80 percent of students in the United States end up changing their major at least 3 times over the course of their college career. Last summer when I wrote this essay I said I wanted to be a teacher, but this summer is a little different. Over the summer I’ve read countless books and I feel like my love for literature is pushing me toward publishing. Publishing would allow me to help inspire others through amazing works of literature.

Many people come across roadblocks through their journey of life. I know I've had my fair share of them. The biggest bump in my academic life was changing it completely upside down. I was born in Guadalajara Jalisco and raised on a small ranch called Atemajac de Brizuela. My dad left when I was small kid, but came back when I was three years old. One year later my sister was born. Once my sister was born my dad decided to come to the United States because he knew that he had better opportunities here than in Mexico. Four years after that I came to the U.S.A at the age of nine not knowing a single word of English.

Personal Statement For my research as a bachelor of Education I worked on the effects of low education on pregnancy and its outcomes in urban area of Montreal, Canada. For this research I examined a sample of 100 families. As the result of my research, in this random sample, women and their families with some basic education were better aware of child cares and necessary cares during pregnancy, such as prenatal exams, than those women and families with no education. After this research I understood that if I continue my education in the field of Adult Education (MAED), it can help me to be more successful in teaching basic and necessary child cares and pregnancy cares to women and their families with low education, which is my interest job.
Currently I have a few goals in mind when I think of what will be happening in my future. My most immediate goal would be getting into the Honours Chemistry level 2 program and, preferably, with the ability to complete a co-op placement. If I follow this path I will have to take SCIENCE 2C00 and SCIENCE 3C00 to be eligible for a work placement. After that I would be spending a total of five years at McMaster with two eight month work terms. Once that is complete I will look for a job within my field of study or, if that doesn’t work out, pursue further studies.
Ever since I was an infant, I have held a special interest in music. This love for music has strengthened over the years; and in sixth grade, it became plain to me that I would be a musician. However, I have always held somewhat of an affinity for writing. I am the second child of two, but my sister is twenty-five years older than I, and I was raised as an only child would be. Growing up in an upper class family, money was something that I was not familiar with. Everything I needed was paid for, from my tuition and living expenses to my daily spendings. However, not only until I entered high school, where I had exposures to subjects such as pre-calculus and economics, that it changed my way of thinking about money. Learning about stock markets, tradings, banks and consumer needs had piqued my interest in the financing field. It was the turning point where I decided the path of my future career.
1. I absolutely plan on having children. I’m only 21-years-old right now, so I don't plan on becoming a parent anytime soon, but it is definitely in my future. I want to be a parent because I want to bring something into the world that is apart of me and I want to be able to watch that child grow and experience life. I also want to be a parent because parenthood seems like it is one of the most rewarding things that you could do.
