My path to law school has began in my sophomore year of college, now I am ready for the challenges ahead with an eagerness to learn. I have discovered over the years that I embody the unique combination of activism, diligence, and courage beneficial for a legal career. I originally had an interest in pursuing a law degree as a student in the School of International and Public Affairs at Florida International University. At the time, I chose to major in criminal justice with the intention of becoming a defense attorney. However as I neared graduation I was not certain about a career as a defense attorney.
I would like to be apart of ASB because I’m interested in helping Medea be the best school it can be. I always like to learn new things and I will appreciate new experiences learning from seventh and eighth graders. I am responsible and I am excited for my leadership skills to be tested. Also, I will gain more responsibility and learn more leadership skills throughout my time in ASB. As part of ASB, I will be able to work with other students who have similar interests and want to be fellow leaders at Medea.
Anticipate what it will be like for you as a student at the University of Delaware. Both in and out of the classroom, where do you expect to feel most comfortable and where will you need to stretch? As a student at University of Delaware I would hope to do extremely well in my classes and earn academic achievement in my field of study. I feel proficient in academics, but there are other areas where I wish to improve.
The neighborhood I lived in had two different sides to it. One half was filled with old, dirty, ran down houses that looked abandoned, and the other half looked fresh, brand-new and clean. The newer houses all had similar structures and paint patterns on them. It was exploring this new part of the neighborhood where I discovered that there were other kids in my neighborhood besides me and my next door neighbor. At first discovering and meeting all these new people was exciting, some of the neighborhood kids even attended my school.
I am currently working as an LPN rooming patients in an OB/GYN clinic. My job includes taking vitals, updating medical records as necessary, preparing exam rooms for the providers, administering injections and medications per order, and recording signs and symptoms for the providers. I work along side the providers and midwives assisting with procedures. I place OB patients on the non-stress testing machines and educate patients on topics such as breastfeeding, maintaining a healthy pregnancy, etc. Working here, I 've been able to witness many situations that drive me to want to succeed as a doctor, such as being able to assist patients who are in active labor or empowering patients to take better care of their health.
From as early as I could remember I noticed I was not like the others kids. I had an interest for things most kids would not be interested in. I liked interacting with people, knowing about people and their life stories; I wanted to help in anyway that I could when I would hear everyone’s problems. I thought outside the box throughout my whole childhood and I wanted to make the most out of my knowledge. I told myself that I was going to dedicate my life to helping my community.
Throughout middle school, I developed a strong interest in law, which I never lost. Because of this, I began doing extensive research on the qualifications and prospective career pathways in law, and this sparked my interest in becoming a City Attorney. Due to my growing passion, I started taking several classes through the Northwest Iowa Community College to get a jump start on my education. Since then, I've studied a variety of psychology courses along with others like Social Issues, Introduction to Political Science, and Introduction to Criminal Justice. These classes have taught me an immense amount about our political systems, and I will be able to apply my newly-found knowledge in my future endeavors.
I was the fourth of four children in my family. We lived in a humble middle-class home in central Ohio. We did not have many amenities that families have today; we had no cable, air conditioning, computers, or internet. Summer days were spent playing outside riding bikes or a game of hide-and-seek. Being outside was a natural thing to do as a child; it was after all where some of the best experiments came from.
To be a trailblazer in my family means more to me than to some others. My family came from Cameroon, Africa as a family of seven. The first apartment we were able to live in was a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. One bedroom was for my parents and the second was shared between all five kids. Two boys on the top bunk and three girls on the bottom bunk.
Education is an extremely important aspect of my life. I enjoy learning and becoming more educated and appreciate all subjects at school, whether it be science, math, English, or social studies/history. I may not be the best in all subjects, but I enjoy becoming a well-rounded individual by absorbing what I can from whatever class I take. Throughout high school, I have continually been involved in as many activities as I can.
As a little girl my dad would always ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. The most obvious answer would be a princess that was before I started to like teaching. As of today I would like to become a teacher because I have always had a love for teaching. Not only is being a teacher all about teaching but to help others and motivate them to do better in school and actually enjoy learning. I live in Desert Hot Springs a small town which means climate is either hot or very hot.
Education is such a powerful essential to life and it has become an extreme privilege that not everyone can be granted with. I have been lucky enough to receive outstanding educational experiences and there are two specific events that have completely affected my educational performance: becoming a resource helper in an autistic classroom and being on yearbook staff. After being a part of those two events, my entire perspective on education has shifted focus and now I clearly see what a blessing my educational career has been. I have been extremely passionate about teaching since such a young age, so when I got the opportunity to become a resource member for autistic children, I immediately accepted. In my heart, I knew that I could become
One of the most controversial issues across the states in the America these days is people using wireless devices while they are driving on the road. The path to pharmacy started with me working on another passion: creative floral design. It is passion because it has given me an outlet to not only be creative but to also help others, to uplift them, to express emotions for whatever the occasion may be. While working at my mother’s flower shop, I was able to meet Nancy. We had many conversations together. She asked me about my future, what I wanted to do.
To begin this writing, I want to say I am very honored to be part of the 2022 waitlist, I see it as another opportunity to prove myself worthy of Stern. I lived in Nigeria for almost nine years, and the things I saw have had a lasting impact in my life. In Nigeria, I was surrounded by extreme poverty. Many people searched and craved for a life worth living. People, even children, were begging for money and carrying heavy baskets filled with food on their head just to get enough money to support their family.
