There are numerous types of recreation delivery services that provide leisure. These delivery services are essential for providing opportunities for individuals to experience different activities such as health awareness, skill development, sports, and more. In addition, it provides a way for people to become more engaged in their community beyond their immediate families. Although there are several recreation delivery services, public recreation, nonprofit organizations, and sports management will be examined.
Public recreation provides places such as beaches, parks, athletic fields, and facilities for people to enjoy leisure activities on their own time. An interesting fact “In 2012, there were 1,565,497 tax-exempt organization” (Cappel, 2013, p.57). That’s a million organizations that provide some form of social, physical, and educational leisure. Nonprofit organization includes YMCA/YWCA, Boy and Girls Scouts, LA’s BEST and others. These programs are geared towards helping youth by providing a safe haven, educational program, and leisure activities. The YMCAs program caters not only to youth but adults and seniors as well.
